Old Prison

The asylum may be abandoned, but Garrett is hardly alone down here...

The Freaks

The Freaks attacking in the Maximum Security corridor

Buried within the deepest levels of Moira Asylum, the Old Prison beneath the Treatment Center was where Dr. Huntfield's personal "experiments" were held captive to await their fate. After failing to extract the Primal, this is where Huntfield confined Erin, until the resulting disaster that claimed Moira's patients caused Aldous Northcrest to spirit her away.[1] Within these lightless catacombs, Garrett finally encounters the monsters haunting the asylum. Corrupted by Primal energy, the asylum's patients are no longer human, but instead have been transformed into dark, nightmarish creatures known as the Freaks.

Layout[]

Both the prison's architecture and its dim lighting are testament to the age and disuse of this area, suggesting that the prison is perhaps the very oldest part of the island. In the wake of the Primal disaster, the rough stonework has become overgrown with luminescent Poppy bulbs and long vines, which cover the initial passageways leading out from the Treatment Center.

These eventually lead into the main area of the prison, known as Reformation. A vast stone chamber serving as Huntfield's office is followed by a large prison block filled with multiple freaks. These rooms ultimately lead to the long, narrow corridor where Erin was kept: Maximum Security.

Trivia[]

  • Using a Rope Arrow to access the highest walkway in the room, the play may find the Mechanical Eye of the original Sneak Thief. The placement of this item implies that the thief had either once been held at Moira within the prison, or attempted to escape the island through the underground.[2]
